claims to be antique.....I bet that knife goes for $19.95 on QVC along with 5 others

Yeah, I was amused by that goofy footnote as well. The knife was a 2 bar damascsus "bowie" with sambar stag scales and was not an "antique". Antique bowies don't have sambar stag scales and they certainly weren't made from highly figured multi bar damascus. If the knife was worth $3k it would have had to have been made by one of a very few blade smiths and invoking the name of one of those luminaries would have imparted more cache than some foolishness about it being an antique.

Sportsmen's Channel has a series of gun shows. Last night, Personal Defense did one on 410 revolvers and their uses. Was interesting - not to start a Judge debate again!

Guns and Ammo.

Modern Marvels did a repeat on bullets and magnums. There's interesting stuff out there.

The term "black guns" has nothing to do with race, it's become a generic for AR15s & other semi-auto "battle" rifle configurations.
Based on the traditional black gun color, not skin color.
Many of the long guns shown fit into that category.

Last episode I saw--may be THE last episode I WILL see--[strike]Rick[/strike] Rich went on about a semi-auto Thompson WWII M1 clone (with obvious 16.5" AutoOrdnance Thompson carbine length barrel) as a gangster era John Dillinger tommy gun.

Yea!
That and charging a guy $1000+ for a sawed off muzzle loader barrel "hand-cannon" strapped to a skid runner plank, with Phillips-Head screws holding it all together!

Mercy!
Phineas Taylor Barnum was right.
There is a sucker born every minute.

I know this, that was sleep depravation induced low end humor.

RC,
Those high-quality old-timey screws jumped out at me, too.

I forgot about the wood screws.

As for melting lead balls.. I'd GET it if they didn't take an off the shelf gun to start with. 50 cal lead balls aren't terribly expensive but I understood 'showing how it's done.' Then ruin it with hardware store Chinese screws.

Let's not forget that 50 grains of FFg is a fire hazard but blacksmithing in the basement is totally ok.

The staff at Dixie could have whipped out a working model in an afternoon from stuff out of their catalog.

Rich is a condescending a$$ for sure but it's clear now that the show is made to appeal to the lowest element of firearms enthusiast if even that.
I tried to run the figures on the latest collection in my head and I actually think he was more than fair, the only gun worth over a grand for sure was the Barrett and an honest used price would be 3-5 thousand the AR's and Saiga 3-6 hundred and the 1911 without better info in the 5-6 hundred dollar. I think the seller was to close to retail if not over. The price they sold the Barrett for was way high even with a high end scope.
The good looking cougars always are interesting as well.

Ladies an gentlemen, it has finally happened. Something has come out that is so appalling that the people here are actually speaking favorably about Sons of Guns.

Just finished episode 3 and like y'all this is my last episode with this show, there was so much that I didn't like in this one episode I don't have time to type it out.

Wyatt's tv dramatized dealing is so phony. The pink 1911 wasn't as annoying as the plastic surgery addict that bought it.

I done with this nonsense, bring on Sons of Guns, I take back any bad comment I ever made about Will and Crew.

I'd watched one or two and just watched another I had DVR'd. When Rich had to ask "What's this?" as he picked up a BAR, that was too much -- he's an "expert?" right. And as has been said, the way he treats his employees, the helicopter he has on standby, and his duffel bag filled with 10's of thousands of dollars is a bit much. I still enjoy Sons of Guns. At least they all seem to get along and have fun. Will's puffuing about the employee that's after his daughter I think is for the show and not for real. But, as far as AG goes, 'nuff.

The show is totally fabricated and dishonest from the git-go, an affront in the basic premise & just goes downhill from there.
The current wife is not the kids' mother. The kids grew up with the first wife & her husband, in a different state.
It's not one homey little family group that happens to run a gunshop, it's an assembled package just for the cameras.

I could have whipped out that "hand cannon" surpassing them in quality 10 fold in about an afternoon... A friggin JOKE.
so was it really a cannon? I heard him say 50 grains of BP for a .50 caliber ball seems to me a cannon should have a bigger bore.

No little sweetie or sissy dog in #3 and the show is getting old already.

It was intended to be a semi-reproduction of the original "hand cannon", or simply the first hand guns.
Those were basically just an iron barrel strapped to a piece of wood to hang onto & lit up by a match or coal in the touch hole on top.
"Cannon" wasn't intended to mean a big bore hand-held artillery piece.

A 1469 illustration of a "handcannon" in use.

Some handcannons had the barrels strapped to the stock; others had a socket at the back of the barrel to take a shaft as a handgrip. I presume once fired it made a great club. Can't wait to see one used in a "Top Shot" challenge.

I got some bad news for you... Mike and Carol Brady weren't actually married, either

Yeah, but the Brady Bunch was better written.
And Marsha was hot. :)

Watched the first episode and disliked it intensely. Watched ten minutes of the second episode and then switched to something else. I'm all for tv shows involving guns but this show is a complete waste of time. I think this is my last post in this thread because I'm not watching anymore of this show.

I tried.... but I just can't watch it anymore... Removed it from my DVR series recordings.
