a local dealer is sending his employees to all the walmarts in a 100 mile radius or so to buy all the ammo they can find, stockpiling it, and doubling the price or more... putting one or two boxes on the shelf at a time...

I'm still plinking with a 45-70 or a Mosin right now  It's the only ammunition I can find 100% of the time. If I had something in 44-40 I could be neck deep just from the local walmart :p.

I'll be happy when I can find target .45 ACP (or large pistol primers consistently enough to not have to stretch my last 1K).

Only thing that really surprised me was the 12 boxes of .380 i saw the other day.

I hope the locals that used to buy from that dealer have had a change of heart about buying from him again.

40 cal has been about the only pistol ammo that has been seen on a regular basis in Southern Utah. Almost makes me think I need another caliber....

"Would you join in stopping high demand ammo purchases?"

You mean like standing guard at the ammo counter and forcing people to put ammo back at gun point? Hitting them with bats? Saying mean things?

What is it you're asking me to join in?

Once again, I don't get it. Oh well.

The only "breaks" in production that I've heard of are caliber specific. IOW, not making .380 because the machines are running around the clock making 9 or 45 or something else.

Depends on the place - found lots of .25 and .32 at one WM, and nothing but 30-06 and 30-30 at another just 10 miles away.
.45 and .38 available at some local shops, but at top retail prices...

ammoengine

fun little tool, pulled up a site Graf $ Sons I didn't know was an online ammo seller

http://www.grafs.com/product/234336

HOWEVER, it does seem to miss a lot. I followed one of the Cheaper Than Dirt adds and once at CTD, under 'customers also bought' they had some ammo that was in stock and for sale, but ammoengine didn't list it.

Not in Central Ohio. I was in 2 Dick's and a Walmart and none of the common calibers. 22lr seems to be the most difficult. I did find some 9mm at Vances. They are limiting to 3 boxes. No 22lr at Vances (other than the specialty stuff)

Not in my neck of the woods, either. I haven't seen any .380 since just after Christmas, and I haven't seen any .25, .32, or 9mm in more than two months. I check three WallyWorlds in my area two to three times a week ... nothing but bare shelves to report. Even the .22 ammo is long gone.

I hope he is paying an hourly wage and mileage to his employees for all their time visiting Walmarts. Must be one heck of a markup. Doubling the price would not cover costs from my perspective unless they are finding a whole lot more at Walmart than I am these days.

Had this posted in the "ammo shortage super thread".

Lots of .223 (at least 70 boxes), 9mm, .45, .357 mag, .44, .32 and .38 at Super Walmart in Casselberry Florida as of May 10th. 6 box per customer per day though. Not sure if it is 6 boxes per caliber or not though. If you purchase the limit, the save your name in thier computer DB to check daily limits. Don't like it, don't buy there is what they told the guy in front of me today. He purchased anyways lol
