.22LR, .30-'06, .308, .223, and .30-30. I have both sorts of 7.62 Russkies, but can't claim them as faves.

.22LR, .30-06, .375H&H, .470NE anything else is just extra inventory.;)

.22 lr, .257 Roberts, 7X64 Brenneke, .308 Win., and .338 Win. Mag.- if I HAD to pick only five. I would pay money for the privilege of adding the following: .223 Remington, .220 Swift, .30-06 Springfield and .358 Win. But wait! We still live in AMERICA! Thank God, I get to keep them all!...At least for now.

If you don't at the very least belong to the NRA, join now. If you're already a member, please get at least three more new members to sign up. If you don't believe that we are engaged in a pitched battle for the heart (freedom) and soul (liberty) of America, all of which stand on the bedrock of the Second Amendment or fall in the quicksand of further diminishing our right to keep and bear arms, then, well, you might be surprised when the government asks you, "What's your favorite ONE rifle cartridge?"

I have a lot of favorite guns, but I'm not sure I have any favorite cartridges. That's like asking about your favorite fuel, rather than your favorite car.

I do get the warm fuzzies over the .308 for it's versatility though. I have 2 Remington XP-100 center grip pistols in .308, some FALs and a couple other miscellaneous rifles. It's a good mid power cartridge all around for hunting and target shooting.

I know you specified no rimfire, but if I had to pick another favorite cartridge, it would definately be the .22LR, again for it's versatility. I've got .22's in every major platform that I shoot centerfire in. Makes for inexpensive practice and an easy way to introduce new shooters to the sport.

22 Hornet Anschutz (Has to be the sexiest rifle of all time)
22 Reminton Sportmaster model 512 (sorry - shoot it every week at the club)
303 Brit
Sadly, that's all I have

Pete

.270 - my go to deer rifle, the slayer, my original and first love
30-30 - my hog and brush gun
7.62x39 - my range/SKS/AK plinker/SHTF
.223 - AR and varmint, homeland security
.22lr - squirrel, rabbit, and fun shooting

If that's all I had for the rest of my life, I'd be okay. It would be boring, but I don't really NEED anything else.

.375 H&H, .378 Weatherby, .458 Winchester, .458 Lott, .460 Weatherby!

The Big Boomers are actually at $5 TO $10 a round a lot cheaper to shoot than the lightweight calibers that are fun and pleasant to shoot! A couple of rounds and you are done for the day!

22 Hornet
45-70
30-06
7.5 x55 Swiss
38-55
Not to say that there is not a bunch of other fine cals. I have fun with, 35 Rem. 30-30, .223, 6.5x55. .375 H&H then the one we all started with .22LR

.22lr
.223 Remington
.30-06 Springfield
.45-70 Gvt.

Only four but I have no real desire to own any other calibers, these 4 do everything I need done and then some.

7.62 x 39 for SKS (cheap)
.308 winchester (Fun to shoot and not that expensive)
.300 rum (Lots of kick)
.22 lr (really cheap and fun to hunt varmint)
.260

45-70 ---- every ones favorite old war horse
458 Winchester -- a domestic elephant round to prevent global warming
338 a fine long range hunting round
308 solving social problems for 50 years
22 win mag = squirrel death

That's my list today and I'm standing by it... for awhile. But I am reserving the right to change my mind on a whim.
