S&W Model 586 - Distinguished Combat Magnum with 6" barrel. Purchased at a small gunshop in Dayton, OH. Without digging out the receipt I'd say it was around 1984. Haven't shot it for a while but it's in the safe downstairs.

A Ruger Bearcat, years and years ago. Still have it, still shoot it from time to time, and still enjoy shooting it. I've bought three others since: the new model in both blue and stainless and a second old model which I gave to my son this past Christmas. Great gun, wonderful crafstmanship, lovingly made, highly recommended.

Yugoslavian 59/66 SKS for $80 about two years ago. I was 32 at the time

Better late than never. I now have 12 milsurps and general use rifles in my collection.

I bought an Argentinian Hi Power 2 weeks before the '94 AWB was enacted. The receipt is dated Sept 1, 1994 and was for $265, which would be $250 plus tax. It came with one 14 rd mag and I bought 5 more 13 rd Browning mags.

At the time I figured those 'high capacity' magazines would be worth a fortune in a year or 2. Well into the AWB, you could still find 13 rd HP mags for under $20.

My first gun was a Mossberg 500 that I picked up the day I turned 18 from Big 5 sporting goods. First handgun was a Beretta 92FS....wish I still had that specific one since it was my "first".

When I moved from NYC to the free state of Florida, I decided that one of the first things I would buy with my first paycheck would be a firearm (not my first btw).
The choices were amazing to say the least! I could buy pretty much anything my heart desired. Back in NYC, the selection was very slim.

So, I decided to get a pump shotgun. I felt it was and is, one of the most versatile firearm platforms out there. I purchased Remington 870 Magnum Express with factory installed magazine tube extension.
On top of that, my collection has grown by leaps and bounds. It was a real PITA every time I went to purchase a firearm in NYC. Here in Florida, I fill out the paperwork, go through NICS, and walk home with my longarm or pistol (I love CCW).
:D

S&W model 41, I had read that it was a great .22 pistol, so I bought one. Still have it, now some 35 years later, it still shoots Xs. Probably the best $ I have ever spent on a firearm.

First and only, Kel-Tec P3-AT, about three years ago.

Never felt the need for one, the world has changed, I'm 69 and very sad it has come to this.

I am also a native from NYC. I will never move back.

Anyhow, ever since moving from NYC, I was stationed in Okinawa and then on board an aircraft carrier. After returning from my 2nd deployment, I bought a SA XD-9 4" with Trijicon NS, f/b a Remington 870 18.5, parkerized barrel, 7 shot extension, beefed up springs and a Knoxx SpecOps stock. Both fun weapons to shoot. Now I am in the market for a pocket pistol - torn between one of the .38 Airlight revolvers and the Kahr PM9 (I am leaning toward the latter).

May of 1968. My graduation present to myself for finishing Pharmacy School. A 6" S&W K-38 with wide target hammer and trigger. Cost $67.50 NIB at a K Mart.

Purchased my Ruger Mini 14 and Norinco SKS M at the same time circa 1993/94.

Ruger P89 DC I had only shot my Ruger standard for the previous 10 years, it was given to me by my dad so it doesnt count according to the poll.

My first gun was a S&W Mod 60 in 1989 at Green Top Sporting Goods. I bought it because I grew up shooting my Dad's Mod 36 and the S&W snubby was the handgun I had the most experience shooting.

Worked through my second college summer and saved enough to purchase:

Remington Woodsmaster Mod 742 .308 carbine, 18 1/2". What a deer gun, that same year I killed my first buck in Tupper Lake NY 10 Points!!!

I believe it was $149.00

Awesome thread!

Mine was a Browning Buckmark $219 NIB at Relo's in Cincinnati, Ohio. The year was 1989. I was 21.

First gun I paid for was a NEF 410 shotgun. Never fired a single shot out of it and gave it to my brother 6 months later.

First gun I purchased with my own money was a Daisy BB gun in 2nd grade.

First "real" gun was a Mossberg Model 800 in .243 for combination deer and varmint rifle. I was 16. My brother filled out the paper work.

1rst gun: Mossberg 590. 2 weeks later Hi-Point .40 to practice for my CHL class. About to get either the XD-40,45 or the M&P 40,45.

The day of my 18th birthday I went to the gunshop and bought a Remington 700 Classic LTD Edition (1992) chambered in 220 Swift. That was in 1995 and the gun was LNIB and cost me $400 +tax. I wish I could find one for that price today.
