Bought a Rem 742 ADL in 30.06 back in the early 70's. It $ucked. It was the only rifle that I could not zero in 35 years. Must have had a bad crown or something. Dumped it.......
Remington 878 12 ga in '58. We ordered it from somewhere. I think, but memory could be way off, it was $48. Still have it, but it has a broken piece that is basically irreparable.
I had owned other guns before this, but the very first on that I ever bought off of the shelf on my own was a 6" S&W Model 19 .357 Magnum. Bought it brand new for $225.00 the day after my 21st birthday.
All the firearms I've bought so far are used (Most of them older than me) But come tax refund time I'll be buying a factory new AR-15 lower, so I guess that'll be my first.
Hey ScottG, that's a great rifle that .308 Savage . I had mine for 2 years with the accu-trigger it's an awesome rifle, especially for the price for it.
First one I ever paid for with my own money was a Ruger .22 Standard Auto when I was 16. Of course I had to give the money ($71 with tax) to Dad since I was too young to buy it myself. First one I ever purchased on my own with my own money. Hmmm...that's kind of tough. I'm betting it was a Ruger Mini 14.
Rifle un-issued Tula 1953 SKS. I paid $199.00 in 1998.
Handgun Glock 19. $439 in 1999.
Shotgun Mossburg 590 in 1999. I don't remember how much, but probably too much.
