Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

Another budget buy. Ordered a Chiappa SAA 1873 22LR for under $200. I can't wait for the "OMG you didn't, you'll be sorry and it's a piece of trash but if you want to throw away your money" crowd........ Guess I'll just take my chances and find out myself.......

Still in eastern Washington visiting my mother. She lives in a one horse town with about 4 pawn shops. As a norm I don’t frequent them but I’m bored and took a look at all of them. Nothing of interest.

On the way back home I stopped at the one LGS in town and picked up a box of Hornady Critical Defense ammo in .410. Don’t plan to actually use them for HD. At $25 a box thought the price wasn’t bad (considering what bird shot .410 goes for) and wanted to support the non-franchise LGS. I’ll shoot them through a Win 9410.

Addendum: after posting the reply I ran to town and picked up the last 4 boxes they had on the shelf.

Had our monthly gun show today and an older gentleman brought in a bunch of books he wanted to sell. A few I had already, but his prices were so good I bought anyway to pass along to friends.
I got John Dutcher's book on the history of Ballard the Great American Singleshot Rifle, Frank DeHaas Singleshot Rifles and Actions, and Bruce Canfield's Guide to Collecting '03 Springfields. All great books, a couple out of print and very expensive now.

Actual 🇨🇭Swiss-produced "Saltech" brand .308 / "new-prod. 7,62x51 ammo". An hour ago. I bought some of this eight months ago for my pair of imported FALs ; red, sealed primers.
I saw no benefit to buying similarly-price old FN Nato 7,62x51 on ammo belts (the ads with photos are on Ammoseek). Couldn't see how unknown amounts of brass tarnish and removing the links while scratching brass can result in improved extraction.

Some of us were not into Battle Rifles (ie not storing 7,62/.308 ammo...) years ago when surplus ammo was widely available and a better value, factoring in the dollar's value back then.

Saltech: "Swiss ammunition and Law Enforcement Technology" is written on the ammo container, seen by expanding the photo in the link.

That's good to know! I still have a good supply of the 1980's Malaysian surplus that was around several years ago. My Imbel build from 2003 cannot shoot any commercial .308 without having extraction issues. As of late any 7.62 Lake City stuff runs pretty good in mine. $50-$75 South Africain 7.62 battle packs were the good old days!

My Bond Arms .44 Special barrel shipped today. Adding to my ammo stock with this awesome stuff (this company sells brass and bullets for all ye reloaders info):
2 boxes
3 boxes

Drove back home from my mother’s house today. 1/3rd of the 700 miles was in the tail end of that storm that’s wrecking havoc in the Midwest.

Stopped in one of my favorite LGS’s in a one horse town. Two shelves of powder. Had everything but Unique which I was hoping to score.

Picked up 200 .357 158 grain SWCGC cast by a local guy that sells them on consignment via the LGS. Left happy.

Not in the last three days but have been buying ammo regularly for a couple months, with tax refunds coming out it looks like prices are shooting up. I've been watching prices daily since November and as of the last week the site that I watch is sold out of a few types and the bulk ammo that is available is creeping up in price..... I predict they will only go up until this time next year.

Yeah, I made two ammo orders in the past couple weeks and want more! I am looking where I can get some .410 buckshot shells in 3" length for my 4.25" Bond derringer. I only have the 2.5" shells from when I had the 3" barrel.

Can't tell you about 410 buck in a handgun. But I tried every 410 buckshot load available a few years back in a couple of 410 single shots . The federal 410 handgun 2.5 with 4 pieces of #000 out patterned everything else drastically. I shot the North end of a south bound possum at 20 yards all 4 pellets exited the south end .

I heard the 3" shells have less velocity than the 2.5" because there is the same powder charge but more shot in the 3" so more mass to move. Anyway, I will have to check on the 4 pellet loads then. Mine are 9 pellets as I recall, this stuff:

instead of down loading my 243 rem, i decided to give a sav axis in 6mm arc a try. love the reduced recoil, slightly less noise with the accuracy of the 6mm creedmoor. small powder charges gets it done.
.....but it surely aint no model 70 win in the action dept, lol....
