My .40 caliber pistols. Found them separately, the second about 4 years after the first. Serial numbers are 22 numbers apart.

Imported by Turner Kirkland in the 60's or 70's I believe. They were blued and case colored, but I like browning and fire blueing better.

Pic with my pistol horn and pouch. The rear of the horn holds 22 balls with the front end holding enough powder for them.

OK,this is where we are as of now. Let me know if there's any typos.

Steve, I really like your Hopkins and Allen underhammer pistol (good design) with the long barrel and specialized target sights, with the exception of the pistol grip, but I am sure it has a distinct purpose for you. I am not denigrating it a bit because I have seen photos of custom, one-of-a-kind target pistols (single-shot or multi-shot) that are built for one purpose: to put as many shots close together into the 10 ring as possible, slow fire. Jim

The underlying reason for that particular (ugly rubber) pistol grip is that it was something I had on-hand (took it off of a Mossberg 500 shotgun years ago) and that it was relatively easy to fit to the H&A action so I could take my (then) new creation out to the range - I just never got around to making a decent looking wooden grip for it. :uhoh:

For precision slow-fire shooting - I have this:

The latest edition, june 2018, of American rifleman has an excellent article on George Washingtons pair of .57 caliber flintlock pistols.

Here's a 50 cal pistol I made. Also made one for my son. They're copies of a Jack Lewis target pistol. 006.JPG That flask I just bought. The lever on the side lets you dial in any charge you want. They were custom made in the 50's. On the pistol a Colt grip frame was used and on the bottom of the receiver up front is a screw that keeps the barrel in place. It's turned round where it goes in the frame and can be interchanged with other barrels turned the same.

007.JPG also a closer shot of another flask I bought back around 1980. The bottom has a big knob to unscrew and keep items under it, and the top has a small sliding cover and 5 or 6 RB's kept under it.

Here's one of a flint pistol I made with a Bill Large 50 cal pistol barrel and a L&R lock. I know the pic sucks, but it's about 12' off the floor in my sun room and I didn't feel like going in the basement for a ladder. 001.JPG

Curator, I had one like the one 5 or 6 from the bottom, the one on the right. Believe it was a 45, and it shot real good. Bought it for the wife, but she doesn't shoot MLers any more and it was sold. Nice collection.

What's the one on the bottom right Curator?
WWII Phillipino home made hand cannon. A "bring-back" by a Bataan survivor. Apparently the Phillipino resistance made quite a few of these in various bicycle shops. They were loaded with black powder and fired with a cigarette. The object was to use the one shot to take out a Japanese soldier and take his more modern gun and ammo.

Also want to build a Ferguson rifle.

Not necessarily build one but I sure would like to own one. Have always been fascinated by the history of both the man and his rifle.
