Carbine's .45 v/s .9mm

I wouldn’t pick a 45 ACP or 9mm carbine for bear use unless they were in a trap. I use my PCC’s for fun or gun games mostly. Killed a few coyotes with a 9mm one, use it becuse it’s suppressed and doesn’t wake up Mrs. Morris.

Magnum lever guns can give a lot more than the two choices above. A 44 mag out of a lever gun, with the right powder can be pretty impressive and the 357 mag is no slouch either. Lots more case volume to take advantage of the longer barrels.

The intent behind the backpack in my case is not to bring the gun into action from it, but rather to bring it into an area such as a hotel room without drawing attention.

Get one of the golf bag cases and you can put as many as a half dozen rifles in it and no one will give you a second look.

That said, there was a guy that carried 14 rifles through a casino in Las Vegas and didn’t catch anyone’s attention...

If Ruger ever makes the PC in 10mm and has in house hi cap mags and the ability to use G20 mags that will be a best seller

I don't see it happening.

1. Ruger doesn't have a in-house double stack 10mm mag.
2. I really don't think that a straight blowback 10mm is ideal.
3. Both the SR series and the American series comes in .45 ACP.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see 10mm PCC. But I'd guess that .45 ACP will be next.

Standard ballistics for a .44 Magnum are a 240 gr bullet @ 1400 fps. A 220 gr bullet at 1300+ fps could be considered pretty close to those numbers.
That's handgun .44 numbers, compared to assumed 10mm carbine numbers. A .44 carbine gets that same bullet 400fps faster.

Out of a handgun, what the 10mm does with a 230gr bullet, the .44 does with a 355gr. Like I said, the 10mm is very capable and has lot of potential but does not have the capacity to compete with the +.40 revolver magnums.

Ya know their PCC has interchangeable magwells and comes with a version that takes Glock mags, right?

You're probably right about a straight blowback. The SIG MPX might be an option though.

I know fully well they have interchangeable mag wells. My Ruger PCC has the Glock well in it right now. I can't see Ruger selling a carbine with a Glock mag included.

I never stated nor implied that we were discussing the .44 Magnum out of a carbine. I am aware that the .44 Magnum is more powerful than the 10mm Auto with all things being equal and was merely trying to put the 10mm carbine into context. The 10mm Auto from a carbine is nipping on the heels of the .44 Magnum from a revolver, which most people feel adequate for about anything that walks or crawls. Furthermore, most carbines will offer vastly superior capacity and probably better practical accuracy than a magnum revolver. .

I don't need a half dozen rifles though. The Ruger fits my needs and assembles quickly enough with a mag already loaded.

Not the point, lots of ways to not draw attention to what you are hauling.
