It's a 'Military & Police', Model of 1905, 3rd Change, .38 S & W Special...made 1910 or maybe 1911...so, older than the items it is shown with, if 'timeless' in it's way...
I think the old four-inch, round butts are my favorite...but all the old 'M&P's are of course smooth, high-quality, elegant and charming Revolvers, whatever their configuration.
This Thread has some nice representatives of them here and there, too...
Newly purchased 586-5. I'm still waiting to get a letter from Smith about the history of it, but the folks over at Smith-Wesson Forum tell me its a pretty rare configuration made for Lew Horton. I replaced the round butt rubber Hogue's for some round to square conversions.
