I'm one of those guys who has only Glocks, but I did that on purpose.
Between the 19, 17 and 17L, the 17L is the most fun to shoot, just because it's the most accurate and powerful.
There really is a power difference. My standard handload uses the 124 gr. Rem. JHP with a good dose of Blue Dot. From the 19, measured velocity at 10' from the muzzle is avg. 1,300. From the 17, it's 1,350. From the 17L, it's 1,400.
That makes all 3 perfectly viable for defense from any critter that I'm likely to encounter in the Nevada desert.
When I was 5, I got a Honda mini trail 50. I remember thinking that the controls were a bit awkward for me. During that ride, I resolved that ergonomics are just silly. I have this thing, and I'm entirely capable of making it work. I've kept that resolve ever since. By now, what matters to me is accuracy and reliability, along with the strength to standardize on a high performance load. It's all about making sense.
