Beretta 92FS
I have had the pleasure of owning several good 9mm's. Among my favorites are the S&W 5906 (6906 for concealment), the Glock's, Sig Sauer, and Browning BDM. Despite its detractors, my hands down favorite will continue to be the formidable Beretta 92 series.
I have carried the Beretta in the military, as a Border Patrol Agent (the .40 cal 96D Brigadier), and as a WA state trooper. It is also my favorite shooter for IDPA and what I tend to carry the most.
Of all the handguns I have ever owned I would have to say that it has had the least number of malfunctions, even compared to the Glock. It will shoot anything I feed it, has very light recoil, and with close to 20,000 rounds through my stainless 92FS, has experienced nothing more than a jam attributable to a magazine. This particular one is probably the most accurate handgun I have, and is direct out of the box.
The biggest fault I can find with the Beretta is the weight, but seeing that it is generally the home gun or truck gun, I don't carry it much. While I do from time to time, it's not the best suited for concealed carry. When I carry it in the military it is just a small piece of a much bigger load so it's really not a bother. If it's on a duty belt, same situation, it's just not too bad.
Be aware. Shoot accurately.
