Exactly! I once took a single-shot 22MAg out with 8 different brands, including a 'then new' copper jacketed round from Federal. That round shot a 3" group @ 50-yards! I forget which was the best, but the best performing round had a group about the size of a dime ...That's a decision only the rifle makes.

These both have a lot of merit. The hood news is there are a lot of good choices to try these days.Exactly! The heaviest hp or poly tip the rifle shoots wellMy question was vague so let me clarify.
I am trying to decide on best 22 WMR round (Brand, bullet weight, bullet design) for use in a 22 WMR rifle. Purpose would be shooting varmints, coyote, bobcat, and smaller.
That is really what I am looking for, a round that can handle coyote sized animals. I would rather be able to go out to 100 yards though. Will a 22 mag round such as the 50 g Federal HPnbe effective against coyote at 100 yds?My 9422M like the Federal 50 grain stuff. Iti s not really particular. I think the round is adequate for coyote size animals up to 50 yards.
Yea, I will. Just looking for some good starting points.I am with jags. Shoot a variety of ammo and the rifle will tell you it's preference.
