I cherish an unfired Python (6" Nickel) built in 1978. I still have the original styrofoam box and ripped-up sleeve and factory manual. I take it out of the safe from time to time to admire it, wipe it with a new silicone rag reserved for that purpose, and put it back in its place. I really need to sell it, realize a profit, and move on. Since I paid very little for it I will reinvest the proceeds into an Ed Brown or Wilson Combat 1911. I will instruct my heirs and assigns to have me buried with that gun.

Fortunately, I have two siver dollars for the toll for the Ferryman.

Whew! This is a tough question. As a revolver junkie my best answer is the next revolver I get. Worse is I have a long list of revolvers that I like to have.

So in keeping with a apparent intent of the topic my top two choices are the Ruger Vaquero 45 Colt with 4 3/4" barrel and a S&W Model 10-6 4" heavy barrel.

I have a long history with my pair of Vaqueros. First in CAS and later in CMSA. Both have action jobs and Bisley style hammers for easier one-hand cocking. One of them is hanging in a holster on my bedpost loaded with Winchester Silvertips.

I do not have a long history with the particular Model 10-6 I currently own but have a long history with K-Frame revolvers in general. This particular gun is a leo trade-in showing the years of holster wear on blue finish. Shortly after buying it I had to send it to the mothership where they installed all new parts in the action. The action feels so new that I considered having the gun reblued but then realized if I did so it would become a safe queen.

I guess I lean more towards the Model 10 as the last revolver I will sell but that is not the same as saying it is my favorite of the two.

My S&W pre lock 66-2 snub. I carried it on and off duty. It still has ear wax in the front sight. ;)

Great sixgun. Everything you need in a revolver and nothing you don't.

S&W model 15 with HOUGUE rubber grips. It is just about the most pleasant revolver that I shoot on a regular basis. I bought it used as a FL Dept. of Corrections trade in and it looked awful with the last user having "gouged" his badge # onto the side, but it was tight, had HOUGUE'S and a very smooth trigger from a lot of squeezing. Using standard pressure ammo, it is a treat to shoot.

a humble 2” taurus 85 38sp that i got gently used in the early 1980s. i replaced the wooden with pachmayr grips. with two speedloaders and a couple of boxes of fmj ammo it literally traveled around the world discretely locked away in a metal tool box.
