Nothing at all against anyone fixing theirs, but I have a duffle cut K98 and think it’s kind of cool. I’ve always thought it helps tell the history of the rifle. Not that anyone ever sees it since the cut is under the barrel band. Again, not discouraging anyone from doing it, just my 2 cents.
At my local LGS I saw a very nice condition IBM M1 carbine for $1500. Really makes me sad because that seems like a pretty low/average price for one right now. I want one really bad but have told myself I won’t spend over 1k on one. Still too much, but that’s where I draw the line.
I have...
My sentiments almost exactly.
My .40 caliber Glock would be a G22, cause that’s what I have. My AR, a 16” in .556. I know it’s not considered a dangerous game gun, but I’d take the calculated risk that it would do me well in most situations.
I like Berry’s a lot too. I’ve used them for 9mm, 9 Mak, .40 and .45 and have always had good results. Just ordered a box of blemished 55 gr. 223 bullets but have yet to try them, I’m sure they’ll be good to go too. Cost half what the fmj Hornadys I’ve been using cost. The blem is that the...
I (years ago) used to be a fanatic about cleaning mine, I think it was even fun, part of the shooting experience. Now life has gotten busy, time to get to the range is limited and there’s usually lots to do when i get home. I hand load almost everything, so there’s no more worrying about...
I have one on a Yugo M77 using the standard AK side rail. That would be way too tall if you mounted it to the side of an SKS receiver.
Ever think about the Mosin PU style mount? I think they were in commercial production to be used on SKS’s for a long time. Lot of people make replica Mosin...
Likely a receiver made by Century Arms (or whoever casts them for Century) I found one once too in a local gun shop. Serial number and other info should be on the left side of the receiver. Put your wallet back in your pocket and RUN!
My first was a Llama 1911 style in 9mm. Bought it as soon as I was old enough to buy a handgun. Could never get it to shoot more than 1-2 rounds without jamming. Sold it as soon as I could someone to take it off my hands.
Kind of wish I’d been a little more mechanically inclined back then. If...
Nice job barnfrog. If you’re meat hunting, sometimes it’s take what you see, and in my mind there’s nothing wrong with that. I’d have done the same.
I have yet to take an animal with a hand loaded center fire round. Did get one with a flintlock once, so sorta but not quite the same.
I regularly shoot 42 gr of IMR4064 with Hornady 150 gr bullets out of an M1a. I started with only LC brass, but don’t change the load when I use commercial 308 brass.
According to the Hornady manual it’s hot, but by all the other info I’ve found it’s middle of the road. Feels more like the...
Yeah. Go for it Cowboy. I’ve never had a rifle professionally finished. Sounds cool and I’m sure it’ll be a nice rifle when you’re done. Come back with pics for sure.
With all the BB gun talk I figured I’d share this.
Picked it up at a car swap meet. I saw it on a table and thought it had a detachable magazine or something. I’d never seen one and wanted it just because.
The guy saw me checking it out and said “$5”. Me being the overgrown child that I am...
Cool thread OP. I can remember that feeling of getting a brand new half pint milk carton style carton of bb’s. With that and my Crossman pump I had the world in my hands.
Yep. Recently I talked my wife into letting me fulfill my dream of buying an old muscle car project. Haven’t loaded or fired a round in almost 2 months now. My son and I used to try and go every other weekend. Haven’t even purchased a hunting license this year.
I couldn’t agree more with tark. I like em original, bumps and all too, but that is an incredible rifle. I’d be all to happy to have it in my collection. Well done sir.
Mine too, and I bought it because it was cheap! 7/8” with 5 shots. I’ll admit it was hand loads, shooting from a rest but with the factory iron sights. I was so impressed that the target is now hanging on the wall near my loading bench.
