Four more weeks to go before this challenge ends, next challenge though I think I will make it 4 weeks instead of 8 weeks. Figuired with winter I'd give some people not fortunate to live in the great state of Florida extra time for this one lol.

Thought you miscounted some scores but realized you were talking about a different post. Carry on. :D

cool, help is always welcome, I have the flu right now so not in clearest sate of mind and some targets when clustered can get hard to count.

mavracer, wow old school Colt 1903, nice!
Yep they're sweet, got that one from my uncle, dad thinks it might be the one he got when he got out of the Air Force, that he gave to my uncle. Not sure either way it's in excellent condition for a 90 year old.

lol this thread may inspire me to get something. I generally spend funds toward full size handguns and more toward rifles than handguns. So I do have a old Beretta 1934 .380 from my grand dad I may enter just for the sake but the trigger is sooooo heavy the score is going to be bad it is just a unfriendly gun to shoot and I can't believe it was a actual side arm of a military the Italian military.. I do have a Makarov also but it shoots 4 o'clock on the bulls so unless I can adjust the sights it would be a stellar score either.
Finding a happy medium for a gun that you carry every day is an interesting dilemma.
If you find the perfect blend of power, accuracy and concealability......let me know. I want one.

There is something about armored farmer's 1911 with it's no rust but worn bluing look that pleases my eye.

The Glock 26 9mm has always appealed to me or maybe the .40 s&w version, hard to go wrong with Glock it is one that I trust. It is still at the top of my list to get although this thread has me thinking. Of course with defensive CCW target accuracy is probably not the most crucial thing but to practice target shooting sometimes it's nice to know it will hit point of aim. I know most of you tend to practice defense firing instead of target shooting with your gun so it has been a interesting thread

Based on entries it seems the Ruger LC and S&W Shield series are two popular handguns.

I'm curious.....
What is the next challenge?
Duty/service guns?
Hunting guns?
Uhhhhhhh...
Single actions?
Shall I go on?

Ugh. Get better. I only had THE FLU once but I could barely lift my head off my feverish pillow for 4 days. It's no joke.

I doesn't mattert that much, Lionking. In fact, I'd rather shoot in single digits than in a Florida down pour. I will say that white paper and white snow are a challenge!

But I like the idea of monthly challenges. Overall this has been a lot of fun.

BC17A that Remington as far as target shooting did pretty good had any problems with it? A month ago I almost bought a Remington RP full size 9mm because it was $299.00 at Rural King and I was "wow a full size 9mm for $300.00?" But then after searching info on it saw it had nothing but problems functioning so I passed on it. There is a youtube vid that shows the RP just failing after failing.

The mags seem to be the weak link with the R51. I've got one that will stove-pipe the last round once in a while but the other has been 100%. So far, after more than 1100 rounds the pistol has been pretty reliable and there is virtually no more wear than when it was new. Some like to think that the Pedersen block and frame will wear as a result of the recoil/unlocking action but I've not seen any to speak of and I've been tracking it with pictures since new. As far as accuracy, they all seem to shoot low, some more than others. I had to make a new front sight that's .040" shorter to correct this ones POI. Other than that it's been a decent pistol. I'm probably going to get another just to keep new because word on the street is they're on the way out of production.

Well as a matter of fact my friend I just started a single action revolver challenge in the revolver section, although the B-16 25 YD target is the choice for that one and printing it will be more difficult to come out correct than buying

lionking, over at Taurus Armed we use to have a monthly challenge and they would vary the targets or the competition to keep it interesting. It was great fun until the person running the event had a change and couldn't do it any longer and the person tat took it over only continued for a couple months until I think they found out how much work it was.

Anyways here's a link to what they were doing if you are interested.

I'm motivated right now to start them ,can't say about later. Anyone can start their own challenge I was inspired to get them going again from previous members, hopefully it inspires others also . Being FL when summer hits I won't be shooting as much unless indoors. I have two passions, guitar and guns and coming up I'm gonna set down the guns for a while a devote more free time what little I have to making the strings vibrate again more. That and finish some landscaping before summer hits.

But I also started a rimfire rifle challenge for those interested. I'm gonna get a couple more challenges going before the end of May then maybe resume in fall.

have you considered letting one run all summer long? that would keep me out of the pool halls & taverns... :D

greetings,

my first effort - but didn't set the world on fire.
first five I held 6 o'clock - all hit low and/or left.
held for upper right corner - went in the black - oh well - live and learn...

enough crying

onward & upward......

Here's my last entry. Just picked up this Pico on Wednesday and had a chance to get out with it this morning. As much as I thought this little pistol was going to be a handful and not very fun to shoot, it surprised the heck out of me. I fired two mags through it just to get the feel and aim, then loaded five rounds in each mag for the challenge. Scored 89, not too bad.

Thinking about a Pico from all the good reports here.

For a small gun BC17 scored good also, the target for this challenge is on the small side , then again there has been a lot of excellent scoring by members using guns that aren't made for target shooting anyway.

greetings,

2nd try, again less than spectacular.
CZ-82 with Hornady 95 gr flex tip
score: 49

this time I can blame a new type of ammo :D
the previous MILSPEC ball ammo shot a bit high
not true with the Hornady - oh well

since this was a CC type match, I cranked them out as fast as I could get the 6 o'clock holds, and it shows

Thumbs up to CA customer service. The single action trigger pull had become scary light and the hammer was frequently following the trigger (shoving the trigger forward).
It cost $11.xx to send it in and they had it back to me a couple days after it was received. I was told if it was made in Shelton CT it will always be repaired at no charge.
