I would love to but the public range like all state parks here is closed due to COVID19. Maybe they will open in may but I would be surprised.

Ok last one. I had installed adjustable sights on this Beretta. Mostly to make them high enough to to see them over the top of a silencer. But they give a nice sight picture too. I was really happy with the results.

I’m fortunate in that I belong to a small private range. It’s nothing fancy, but it works. No employees to check in with. Members get a key for the gate, and just clean up after ourselves when we’re done.

I guessed wrong on the POA. I think the light reflects off the front sight paint differently at the 25 yard line. I was favoring to the left when I was at 10-15 yds but at 25 I threw them all low and right. I might wipe the shiny orange paint off the front sight. Can’t tell if it’s better or worse than nothing. LOL.

You guys are awesome. at 25 yards it is so easy to drop a shot off the paper, and you guys are bummed when you leave the black. Good shooting!

Class 3: 80-1X :( 6 o’clock hold wasn’t enough, and my weird tendency to shoot to the right at 25 continues. Plus I can’t figure out why I can shoot the G30 and G41 acceptably well but for the life of me I can’t seem to hit anything with the 9/40 Glocks lately. See my G23C attempt in the following post)

Dry fired right afterward and my front sight was steady as a rock. I don’t get it. Every shot felt the same and looked good.

So I've been playing with a couple single action revolvers lately, and was at the range running a couple loads over the chronograph today. I realize this is a "self defense gun" challenge, but the little Single-Six makes a pretty good woods gun, and the .32 H&R Magnum is still considered an adequate self defense caliber. If anything, it could provide defense against rabid squirrels and the like when out hiking. :p

More than anything, I still had a couple targets in my range bag and wanted to see if I could get the reload done in time and still get all 10 shots off. So I set the par time on the timer at 60 seconds and started with the hammer cocked and gun up on target. I fired six, shucked out the empties, loaded four more and fired them off. I didn't look at the timer as I went, and just plowed forward waiting for the beep. I was really rushing at the end, and the last two shots were the ones that went low. When I finished, I decided I should have slowed down a bit. I had managed to get all 10 shots off including the reload in a hair under 35 seconds.

So I took my one remaining target and moved back to 15 yards and tried again. This time I went a little slower and got it done in 52 seconds. I reviewed my split times on this one and found my reload had taken 16 seconds. Not bad. I'll take it. If I'd had another target I would have tried it at 25 yards as well. Maybe next time.

So since it's not a typical self defense gun, we can call this just a fun run. But I thought I'd post the results anyway.

I hear ya. I've only ever been so-so with most things Glock. The squishy trigger doesn't help, but that's not all of it. The cheap aftermarket .357 Sig barrel that I posted with earleir seems to be the exception. But for the most part, Glocks for me are adequate, but not exceptional.

I agree with this. First Glock was a G21 and I like ie a lot. I like the original sights and even got used to the trigger after 100 round s or so. I did my yearly LEOSA qualification with it and it performed very well. I have a G17 as well that takes a backseat to my CZ 75b as far as handling, trigger, and malfunction drills. Glocks are very reliable and I would use one for self defense and be confident. Having my druthers I would choose the CZ line.

Thing is when I shoot carefully from a rest they shoot as well as anything else I have. There’s just something about the ergos or the trigger or the recoil or the sights I’m using that throws me off.

and like I said the G30 shoots pretty well and it’s about the same size as the 19/23. I don’t get it.

maybe my reloads just suck....
