Which pawn shop??? Are you a Utardian? I’ve never found a used anything in any pawn shop that was less than a new one and often more. Lol

It was in VanWagenen’s on State Street. I heard they lost their FFL, and they closed down probably 10 or 12 years ago. But they had a huge gun counter back in the ‘90s and 2000s.

And yes, I grew up in the sprawling metropolis of Fillmore, UT (population ~2000). I still go out on the desert and shoot jackrabbits when I visit home. The farmers always appreciate it.

For those who don’t have a shot timer, there are a number of smartphone apps that will work for the timed portion of this challenge.

I have been using one called “Free Shot Timer). It’s a little clunky, but works well enough for this type of challenge.

Ok, last revolver for me. I had wanted to save the best for last. This is a 7.5” S&W M29 “Classic Magnum II”, that belongs to my wife. I cheated a little and mostly shot .44 Special, except for the 25-yard class, which I shot last. And that’s only because I shot a few more of the timed fire targets than I had originally planned and ran out of the Spl. ammo.

First up, Class 1. After a few tries, I got one that I initially scored as 100-10X. But when I got home and looked closer, I’m not sure if the one shot was too far out. Take a look and let me know what you think. I’m pretty happy with it either way.

no fair when your barrel reaches halfway to the target :D

j/k great shooting!

Got this Colt Anaconda last month birthday gift to myself , wanted one since 1992 when I first held one. Shot it first time two days ago indoors. Was shooting way low almost off the paper so I winded up using too much ammo sighting it in. I'm out of ammo now so this is my entry. Probably still need to click it one up later on. The four shots to the right I attribute it to me , I am sure I anticipated the shots under pressure to score.

No matter what I always seem to loose one or two shots out of ten with my entries, out of .357 ammo now so time to post up and say it is what it is lol. I tried 125 and 147 gr Fiocchi ammo in it.

Very nice Snake guns!

thanks one left to go maybe one day, the Python 6' blued. Having limited ammo, and having to sight them in first, I think I could have done better and these challenges have made me drag bags of guns to the range trying to get as much done as I can at a time, which after two hours of non stop shooting it gets a bit tiring.

Still have to do the timed shooting, trying to decide which ones to use, I'm going to have to order ammo one more time, to get it done.

I had wanted a 4" King Cobra for a long time but one day I saw that 6" for a decent deal and got it. Turns out that for target shooting I prefer a longer barrel anyway. I remember when I first handled the Anaconda and King Cobra back in the early 90's , $350 new for the Cobra, $700 new for the Anaconda back then, but as a poor young man never got them till later in life.

What I have seen lately looking on gun broker the vintage King Cobra have gone down in asking price, maybe because Colt has introduced new ones again, but to me they are still not the same as the classic. I have also watched of late several used but very nice shape Pythons selling for under $2000 on GB, it's the mint ones that are grabbing the extreme premium bids. But I don't want a mint one though otherwise I'll just make it a safe queen and fondle it and oggle over it but not shoot it

Honestly though I get a lot of sheer shooting pleasure out of the Ruger GP 100, it has become a main range gun for me, that entry is coming up.

I feel like I should be able to shoot this thing better... :(

Is how I feel with all my entries lol. So far my 629 .44 mag is been the best for me and even then lost 2-3 shots outside of having a nice group.

My Ruger GP-100, has turned into a favorite range gun, love the grips, love the action and the balance especially in single action, like the green front sight. I tried a couple times each with 125 gr and 147 gr Fiocchi which I have only used Fiocchi ammo in it so far. I like Fiocchi ammo, but haven't been able to pull off satisfactory to me groups with it in the Ruger. I did this before the Colt entries, out of ammo for now lol.

Looks like fun.

Back when we carried issued service revolvers (4" Pythons, 66's and 686's, depending on date-of-hire) one of the stages of the normal qual course-of-fire involved hustling (from the whistle) from the 50yd line to the 25yd line, then at the 25yd line drawing and firing 10 round, double action. Shooting 10 rounds required reloading with 4 rounds in whatever manner was desired, which allowed for a partially filled speedloader (my choice), loose rounds from a pocket or from belt loops.

The total lime limit for that part of the course was 25 seconds (included both moving a distance of 25yds and reloading to fire the last 4 rounds).

The ammunition provided for the qualification was locally remanufactured all-lead ammunition, meaning 158gr LSWC +P for the .357 shooters, and either RNL or SWC for the guys shooting .44/.45's in SPL, Colt or ACP standard loads. You could shoot your own personally-purchased factory ammunition, of course (new duty ammunition had to be bought and replaced at your expense after the initial box was issued).

We had a decently large, wide and disparate group of shooters (men and women), and a lot of the men also opted to carry personally-owned .44's & .45's, but it was seldom that someone couldn't accomplish that part of the course within the time limit. I still miss the revolver days, as folks were forced to learn how to run the guns.

yeah looking at my Colt entries gonna have retry for my own sake sometime , being new to the Anaconda and limited time on the King Cobra I know I can do better , the Ruger GP100 not sure if I can do better I did try a few times with that particular gun, could be different ammo is needed for that gun.

I have one more coming a 4" S&W 686 I think I 'll use that one for the timed challenge also, being out of .44 those get cleaned and in the safe for a bit now.
