greetings,

my first entry for one handed
starting with the worst - no optics hurt
plus being the third gun I was getting a bit more wobbly

class 1, 10 yds
9-1/2" Ruger SSS
Armscor 40 gr JHP 22 mag
score 72

second one handed entry

class 1, 10 yds
Ruger MK 2, BSA red dot
CCI std velocity
score 83

J25Wryd.jpg

not surprisingly, the red dot helped a lot

third entry

class 2, 10 yds
TC Contender
10" octagon barrel
Bushnell 2 ~ 6 scope, set on 2.5X
WW NATO (Q4318) 124 FMJ
score 90

the target is a bit raggedy, but I'm fairly sure I scored it correctly

frankly, I expected to do the worst with this one, since it is the heaviest
really glad I shot it first!

Nice one with the Contender. They can be laser-accurate, but I find I don’t shoot them offhand all that well. The balance is too far forward. But I figure I’ll at least try one or two entries with one for this challenge.

true enough, but the octagon barrel helps a lot - that plus the Pachmeyer grips & the scope puts the balance point way back....

I entered the rimfire twice with two different Aguila target loads. I ran out of the blue B-16 targets and had to use an orange one:

Class 1:
10 yds
Ruger Mk II Govt Target Model
Aguila .22 Target
85, zero X
Aguila target 85 pts.jpeg

Class 1
Ruger Mk II Govt Target Model
Aguila .22 Pistol Match
91 three X

Aguila pistol match 91 pts 3x.jpeg

I was surprised at how much wobble I had with this pistol...

Stay safe.

And three centerfire revolvers, class two:

Ruger 7.5" Redhawk .41 Magnum
215 gr Missouri coated SWC, 8.5 gr Unique, WLP, Starline.
84 points zero X (I miscounted when I wrote it down, wrote 94 :what:)
Redhawk 84 pts.jpeg
This gun has the front bead/"V" rear sight. I liked it when shooting the larger silhouette shapes, but with this bullseye it was harder to shoot it well compared to the Square-post Patridge sight picture of the 629.

S&W M629 6.5" PowerPort
.44 Spl., 200 gr Eggleston coated RNFP, 7.3 gr Unique, Fed 150, Starline
89 Points, zero X (Miscounted again, wrote 91 :cuss:)
629 89 pts.jpeg

And finally,

S&W Model 64 4"
Berry's 148 gr plated HBWC, 3.0 Bullseye, CCI small pistol, mixed nickel brass
91, three X

m64 92 pts 3x.jpeg

One pair of clinker shots shot took away a good score...o_O. After shooting the big bores first I have no idea why I flinched on these...(mid-string, too!) Oh well, if I didn't toss some flyers I could be like the guys on TV! Well, maybe not those guys but I'd sure score a lot better. ;)

Stay safe.

Ok, first off is the FrankenRuger. This is one I assembled from a MK-II bolt & grip frame, and a MK-III top end. I never really thought it was very heavy, but then I never really shot it one-handed much either.

I had brought this out for the double-action revolver challenge that is also going no on now. I was getting low on ammo, but I shot this one target.

The 7-1/2” barrel gives excellent accuracy, and the single-action trigger is incredible.

You know, for hanging a brick of a gun out there with only one hand, I’m pretty happy about how this one turned out. In the “go big or go home” category, I thought I’d try the Desert Eagle.44... just because.

Actually, the Desert Eagle was the first gun in shot for this challenge. And having just finished the revolver challenge, I wasn’t paying attention, and I’d thought there was a 25-yard class with this one too. So while this doesn’t count for score, I thought I’d throw it out there. I didn’t manage to get them all in the scoring rings, but I’m pretty happy about at least keeping all 10 shots on the paper. That thing was really getting heavy at this point.

Man, that DE is a behemoth! I'll admit holding the 629 with the 6.5" full lug barrel got a bit tiresome after about the 7th round...

Stay safe.

That's awesome. I'm trying to piece together an exact copy of that (minus the optic). Handsome pistol. Looks like it shoots, too!

that's just bad azz awesome. I remember decades ago shooting a friends DE .50 , the recoil alone made me tingle and grin lol but what it did to a soda can at 10 yards made me go "oh yeah". Nothing like the sight of floating aluminum confetti in the air from a big boy big bore.

Yeah, it will usually get people’s attention. I had thought about throwing the .50 barrel on for this challenge. After all, bigger holes have a better chance of touching the next scoring line.

Of course, that thing is a handful when using both hands. I still might. We’ll see...
:D

Ok, a little more mundane this time. I shot a couple targets after the local USPSA match.

Been busy with the other three challenges going on will get to one soon. I really want to see how I do with my Ruger Blackhawk in 9mm cylinder.

I pulled out a couple of .38s today. A T/C Contender shooting .38 Spl (.357 Mag chamber), and an STI 2011 in .38 Super.

I’d had the 10” Contender factory barrel cut back from 10” to 6” and threaded to shoot suppressed. I was shooting 148 gr. hollow base wadcutters. They make great target bullets, but they sound funny whistling through the air when shooting suppressed at longer distances. Kind of fun.

I ran the STI in USPSA for a long time. I’ve been shooting other guns the past few years, but I’m still a big fan of Open division.
