I finally got to the range for this challenge. I've been having a lot of issues with my right arm (pain in the elbow and shoulder) but I cant blame my poor scores on that. However I had a lot of fun shooting it! I didn't quite get to shoot everything I brought due to time restrictions so maybe I'll be able to put in a couple more entries before the contest ends.

Oh boy. Humbling. I shouldn't even bother posting.
Its a little embarrassing, but whatever. I said I would so... It was a good reason to pull this one out and shoot.

I did class 1 and 2.
No practice runs, just pick up, load and shoot. What you see is my first (only) 20 rounds that night.

Oddly enough after the pretty terrible round at 15 yrds I did 3 really solid shots at 25, then took a dump.

The gun:

The gun is more accurate than this, but my eyes are not as sharp as they once where.

I didn’t do all that great indoors with the shiny sights on the Old Vaquero .45C 4 5/8” today:

.45C: Starline, 7.7 Unique, WLP, 250 gr plated RNFP: 76 Pts. Class 1 15 yds fixed sights.

Second target different load;

.45C: Starline, 8.5 Unique, CCI LP, 225 gr RNFP, 74 Pts. 1 X. Class 1 15 yds fixed sights.

There are lotsa better marksmen in this group than I!

Stay safe!

Corpral your groups aren't that bad especially class 1 you just are grouping left, which maybe different ammo or changing where you aim could fix.

thanks but I am tensing up before the shot. I am flinching.

The holes darn near center are what I CAN do. The holes everywhere else are evidence that I, not the gun, am fouling up.

I shoot fast mostly (3 gun and stuff). No time to think about stuff, just shoot.

I need to be able to do both.

Same here, I caught myself several times with a bit of a tense-up with the SA today. I was also shooting a GP .44 Spl DA, and when I would stage the pull with this gun I caught myself tensing up as well. :fire: When it was a straight-through trigger press I shot it very well.

I guess maybe there’s a Michulek buried somewhere deep down inside all of us, we just haven’t yet learned how to ignore the flinch instinct (Plus he operates a gun at 78 rpm in our 33 and 1/3 world!)

Fun challenge, keep them coming! :)

Stay safe!

Honestly there is a Miculek in all of us.
And guys like Miculek show us just what IS possible.

Going to big matches for the first time was one of the most humbling experience and also opened the door for meto really improve.

I only have one single action revolver, inherited from dad, plan one getting more sometime, but I really like a Ruger Blackhawk. Feels good, I like the sights also. Used a indoor range today but prefer outdoor and my score shows it I think. Used a 6 o'clock hold on the black. With 9mm cylinder it is adjusted to shoot more center, with .357 Fiocchi it shoots a little high but actually tighter overall. I'm showing my .357 target at 15 yds just for info sake entering class 1 using the 9mm cylinder.

Enter Class 2, Blackhawk my dad bought in the mid 70's. Used the 9mm cylinder. A convertible is nice but usually you have readjust the sights when changing the caliber, so for my entry 9mm is it, .357 shoots higher without adjusting the sights. 9mm is more economical to shoot so this one is staying adjusted for 9mm. The photo loaded sideways sorry. Disregard second photo uploaded by mistake

EC993D1D-7FA4-482A-A635-AE45147B25AE.jpeg At last, I was able to get to the range today.

81 no X

Uberti Ranch Hand, .357 Magnum, shooting .38 Special handloads; home cast Lee 125 grain RNFP (which actually weighs closer to 135), Alox tumble lube, 2.7 grains of Alliant Bullseye powder, Federal small pistol primers, Starline brass. The “X” at twelve o’clock marks the point of aim with a two handed hold at 15 yards.

This was shot at an indoor range. I hope to get to an outdoor range and use my percussion revolvers to make some more targets for you. Obviously I am not a bullseye shooter, but it was fun!

Check for interference between the hammer spur and the top of the grip? Make sure your finger isn't too deep into the trigger and maybe stopping against the left side of the grip? Maybe it needs a good cleaning?

and fun is what it's all about! :)

That and getting out of our comfort zone a bit. I can tell you this challenge taught me some, first I'm use to outdoor, was way different using a indoor range, my progressive lenses are way more blurry in a low light in door range. Also, I got use to testing or shooting at 10 or 15 yards, had been a while since I used the Blackhawk at 25 yds. Also I was use to measuring me and a revolver with 6 or 7 shots, make it 10 and the group has a better chance of getting bigger.

BTW friends get your B16 targets same as used in this challenge abundant and ready , new challenge coming soon , same rules for rimfire coming auto or revolver.

that's good to hear - I bought a full pack of them. :D
