The 8 & 3/8ths" Model 29 pictured here, with the table full of .44s was used as the base gun for the 5" 29-2 project. I picked it up in missoula years ago, saw an old buddy and looped back through the Pahsimeroi Valley of Elmer Keith fame, where I popped a few critters with it.
I forgot I had fast stepping JHPs in the gun, instead of my usual SWCs. The fast JHPs are a fair bit destructive on game...
To keep these guys intact, and for fun, you aim right at their feet and the bullet impact launches up high into the air, performing "ground squirrel Olympics" kind of moves. Good fun, unless you are a rodent.
