The real reason there is an ammo shortage is that a few of us decided to "vote with our money" to help insure that the manufacturers of our favorite products would survive these difficult political and financial times.
You are correct it is a California proposed law which I don't know if it has been approved yet. But they will put some ID number on every cartridge to identify the buyer. Again I can only see this driving up prices for the people who aren't the problems and the criminals using stolen ammo and other means to get around it. Too bad they don't deal directly with the problem which is the person responsible who pulls the trigger.Well, CA was considering something like that, but the final version of the bill does not have microstamping or the 50 round limit. It does however make dealers take fingerprints, keep records, etc. It doesn't take effect til 2010? or 2011? And it's just CA not the other 49.
Of course like I said, the biggest cause of the shortage has not been any politician (this administration has actually been gun FRIENDLY so far, passing National parks CCW and almost creating a 50-state CCW) but the problem is simply greedy dealers and dumb chain e-mails spreading misinformation to make money and ruining it for the rest of us.
A lot of stores, or dumb employees, like to make up crap, or are simply unaware of laws anyway. For example some guy on here was at a store and they told him "you must be 21 to buy anything related to home defense or tactical" there's no such law in his state, just a misinformed employee trying to tell him their store policy is a state law.
Cars are deadly weapons if they did what they propose we would all be walking.
Hey you got a good point there but then you can see all the red tape, how difficult they would make it to own and operate such an instrument/tool. They would make tons of $$$ by doing this.Bad argument, don't let the anti's get that idea.
All operating cars are supposed to be registered.
All operating cars are supposed to be safety inspected each year (most places).
All operating cars are supposed to pay a license fee each year.
All operating cars are supposed to be driven only by a licensed user.
All operating cars are supposed to display their individual identification that is easy to see.
All operating cars are supposed to be insured.
etc.
God I hope they don't try that with my guns.
You must have just caught it in time perhaps a delivery came in. Most Walleyworlds shelves are cleaned off. Now the ammo that's left is very expensivelike the higher priced 30.06 $40.00 a box not the 19.00 per box.Just got back from walfart with 600rnds of WWB 9mm (limit of 6 boxes to each customer)
They still had at least 10 boxes of 9mm, 4 of .45 auto, and....... awe heck, I can't remember..... .44?
Anyways, either I have been timing it better, or things are loosening up a bit
I typically just hang a tarp up to the right of me between two trees* with some paracord. Then I leave a couple of feet flat on the ground so the tarp is in kind of an L shape. When I'm done all my brass is lying on the tarp waiting for me.b) make a portable frame (I like PVC pipe) with a sheet to catch the brass.
When I read your first sentence I thought, "What a great idea! But there has to be a catch to it somewhere."I typically just hang a tarp up to the right of me between two trees* with some paracord. *Note: must have trees for this to work
The only problem I've found with that is that I have to stand in wildly different places in order for my brass to land on the tarp (10x12). This is particularly problematic when you have several people shooting and one gun throws brass 10-20 feet behind the shooter.I just toss out a large tarp. Catch 90% of the brass that way....

Not counting the machine cost
You should see the prices on the Corbon DPX ammo now that expensive and they only give you 20 rounds. I guess you are paying for the cooper material. There is no .380 to be found where I live. I have been watching .380 prices on Gunbroker, and most people are listing it at 50 cents a round or higher, but virtually no one is bidding at those prices. I bought 500 rds last year for 26 cents a round, and I have about 200 rounds remaining. I will not pay 50 or 40 cents a round. If or when I run out, I just won't shoot that caliber anymore, until more reasonable prices come about, how about you guys?
