Top Shot Returns -New Season

How many of you that don't like Colby have watched the companion show Top Guns? The guy has some shooting skills as well.

'Top Shot' is one gun show that I have just never been able to get into. I have tried.
The host is annoying, the show is plodding, and the shooting is boring.

And 'Top Guns' is about the same....just can't get into it either.
.

Tonight's opening episode was a definite improvement over the previous format. No "Teams" is a great improvement and hopefully will eliminate most of the drama. Hopefully they have also eliminated the BS "Weapons" like the rocks and spears.
My guess is you will see those later on. One has to be able to handle any weapon handed to them be it sling shot or that gernade launcher which no regular shooter will ever get their hands on. The weapons used should be what civilians can legally purchase.

I am glad it is back! I missed the first episode - got the DVR reset and I should have the second one on there...

Word of warning to those of you who have a Direct TV DVR and thought it was already pre-set for "Top Shot" - mine was, but since they changed the name to "Top Shot All Stars" it did NOT record the show. You will have to go in and set it to record the new one.....

I think the show is awesome. Some of the drama is a bit much - but that comes with any show. I have met several of the contestants and they are all very down to earth nice people. Looking forward to watching!

I like the "alternate" or primitive weapons. It's only one or two challenges per season after all.

Agreed, total waste of my time.

I'm definitely happy to hear that Top Shot is having another season, I only wish that it would be aired during prime time, so like 9mm stated more fence sitters would have an opportunity to view it.

I don't know when it is airing in your area, but I have Dish and it aired at 1900hrs, 2000hrs and 2300hrs (7, 8. and 11) last night and I'm pretty sure it will repeat a couple of times during the week (I'm thinking during the weekend)

I like the show. And maybe part of it is gun envy. I would love to be on that range handling some of those pieces, that I may never get to shoot.

Colby??...I think it's cool that he landed this gig, hopefully he can refrain from the "OH NO, Cliffy is choking,, OH NO he missed again!"

Sadly,as expected

The first man off the show [ and calling him a man is extending his cred's ] was a HUGE whiner:barf: and a very poor loser:banghead:.
It was ALL on him and as to being a TOP SHOT = sadly I have never heard about him before and I am sure will not again = UNLESS they like his antics and bring his sorry butt back for another crying session :fire:[ oh and don't forget the sulking ].
The "gymnastics" has nothing to do with shooting and IF your adding that, then PLEASE have age categorys as there was WAY too much age difference and if you don't get that ---- then your young and will have to learn the hard way [ as I did ].
Still think the host is too "game show" wackadoodlish for my taste.
Shooting is a serious affair and should be treated in a bit more somber manner.
IF all brought their 'game face' then sadly many are as I stated prior --- not shooters but 'sport shooters' and have no business on TOP SHOT.
Or if that is not so,then change the name to "Almost top shots".
Or how about " those that you never heard of and have no real Cred's but come from an 'agency' or just like to shoot" yea its a long title but honesty in advertising would be refreshing.

I have met Greg Littlejohn and he is an honest to goodness nice guy. Remember even reality TV has scripts and guidelines.. He usually frequents the gunshow circuits. I actually enjoyed meeting and talking with him.

Safety is serious but recreational shooting should be fun. I'm glad that they try to reflect that in the show to draw in new shooters. If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.

I think running, climbing and balancing is a lot more pertinent to shooting than standing (I've done all 3 during training) on a shooting line shooting for groups. I would also venture to say that Kyle (51) is a better shape than most of the guys there. During his first appearance, they talked about him getting up early every morning to get his workout in. The fastest on the course Kelly (23), was the youngest, but his sport of choice was also the most sedatery (small bore precision rifle).

I would suggest that most of the movement was just to add stress.

It sounds like you'd prefer watching Olympic shooting sports. The tried broadcasting these events before and just weren't drawing the watchers. I think the only Summer Olympic sport that would be less interesting to watch is Fencing...the most is Indoor Cycling

I enjoyed the new format of NO TEAMS and less drama. There was much more shooting and a lot less talk. They even shortened the shooting scenes a little too much in a few places.
9mm +1: Pyrotechnics, running, climbing, and balancing adds stress and distractions to make it more difficult to FOCUS on the shooting. There were some spray-and-pray examples last night.

I record the shows on a DVR and fast forward through the "HOUSE" portions.
That leaves the weapons and course descriptions along with the actual shooting.
I would like to hear more on how the weapons are "sighted in" and about their capabilies for accuracy and range.

Interesting and enjoyable. Looking forward to the next episodes---on my DVR.

9mm, I have Prism TV here which gives me all the Football I can watch year round, however the shooting shows, including Top Gun don't air till around 10:00 PM. That is in Southern Nevada. I guess I could bring 'em up on the Computer and let my grand kids watch 'em.

Ditto on the rocks and spears. Also throw out the grenade launchers and cannons. No doubt they have a ball shooting them, but its a far cry from a "top shot" skill. Shoot guns, long or short, auto or revolver, old or new, military or civilian, get the point. Hoping that they won't throw in squirt guns to fill up a tube and raise a flag.

Also skip the drama. The marine last year should have been thrown off the show. I'm sure that his fellow marines were embarrased by his display.

Also a fan of Gabby.

I can't sweat them too much for the acrobatic stuff. The truth is, when you are fighting, even as a civilian, you have absolutely no idea what you will have to do to save your life or escape from danger. It is VERY naive to assume that all you will ever have to do is draw and fire.

I have been there and done that, (albeit, most of it when I was a lot younger,) and even as an NCO in the army NOW, I don't know how many of those physical challenges I could handle. I look at the shooting challenges and I'm pretty sure I could perform about average in most of them, but then I imagine doing it after climbing a rope or charging a hill, and I'm not as sure. remember, this is what stress fire is supposed to test.

I love the show.

It puts shooting in your face and in a positive way. The competitions and setups are extremely creative and the contestants are interesting in a good way and come from virtually every walk of life.

If you find this show "boring" I challenge you to come up with a better, more positive example of shooting that will get better ratings.

I almost expected it from the HS guy, since he was first, but was a bit surprised when Gunny did it...especially as he is a Bullseye champion

I believe you're thinking of the Navy SEAL

@ 9MM

I truly LOVE action shooting and watch it always on the outdoor channel and sportsmans channel.

BIG difference watching the REAL TOP SHOTS doing their thing and doing it at HIGH speed with few misses.

This looks like amateur night and I don't appreciate the host and his asinine comments to the shooter [ yes they can hear him ] or the other competitors.

btw - in the real shooting shows where they do run & gun, they don't crawl and climb ,BUT they carry a gun which is a bit more realistic as I don't expect to "find" a gun at the end of running toward a shootout.

And as to the Olympics shooting ,sadly too many want to be 'entertained' and don't have a clue as to what it take to actually do those disciplines.

SO we wind up with "REALITY T.V." and this version of a shooting show,I honestly believe it could be entertaining and realistic.

It is not realistic ,and many could learn from that instead of the 'stuff' [ to be polite ] that is put on the BOOB TUBE and the movies and called 'shooting'.

Different strokes for different folks. I for one hope they continue with this Show for more years to come. It's really nice to see a show about firearms and shooting not on an outdoor channel. There is a market of people there that would otherwise never watch such a thing. I can guarantee you Top Shot has brought new shooters to the community
and that's something we need in today's society.
