Top Shot Returns -New Season

Trick shooting is not something new invented for TV. Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill Cody became international stars over 100 years ago doing these same shots.

I agree about Gabby. Did you see her handle that Remington? dang.
Too bad she had never shot a standard 10-22 before.. most American kids learn to flatbutt flail with those at an early age.

My 5 year old loves the show. We sit down and watch it.....of course he just wants to see the shooting..so the house scenes kind of lose his attention. But hey it sure beats being forced to watch another sponge bob episode.

I like the new format. The voting thing just kind of felt like every other show out there. But with that gone, I like it much better.

Are these the "best"? ...maybe not..who cares..it's a competition and a TV show.

For me, it just feeds my gun obsession. So instead of crawling over the web for gun stuff...I get to sit and watch a little TV.

Why judge it so harshly? It's just entertainment. Either you like it or not.

I would love to compete in something like this. But truth is, I don't quite have the skills to. So I will just be content to enjoy the show, maybe learn a few things or get some ideas for something fun to do.

I very much agree. He's aloof, and hard to read, but he can put the lead on the target.
I must say that I've never heard that take on it before.

He is usually described as a bit shy. I met him at SHOT and thought he was very approachable. He is really just a big shooting nerd.

I'd like to see the final two as Kelly and Chris...it would be a hard choice as to who to cheer for as Chris is a shooting/training friend

For true. Aloof, feh. If you want to see some winners, they generally have their head coddled in some earphones (figure of speech but it's quite common), listening to God knows what just prior to an event.. from high-dive to perhaps goat roping. it's just a fact
One must focus.

I was just watching last nights episode on my DVR. I'm not sure of his name, it may be Chris, he shot last in the dice challenge (six glass panes to break). Anyway, was he wearing Kevlar under his shirt? It looked like it to me, I was just curious if any of you guys noticed it as well.

That isn't Kevlar, that is just how Chris is built...believe me, as hot as it was when they were filming this (it got up to 112) no one would be dumb enough to wear body armor. Before his celebrity in the first season of Top Shot, he worked for the Ohio LE Training commission...he has always been in great shape...he is also an accomplished cook (the family business)

The Dice Challenge once again demonstrated that Gunny doesn't usually shoot the best when there are time pressures

I thought he was wearing a wrap or brace under his shirt. After that obstacle course opening, I'd probably be wearing a full body cast.

I can truthfully say that I have been successful at it. I am simply choosing not to tell you the ratio of shots to success.
Me too. I have found that after a successful shot, it is best to have others say "Did you see that?" than for me to say "Watch this!" before attempting the first flub.

Try doing these things under pressure with money, REAL money, on the line and cameras recording your every mistake (and internet experts critiquing your every breath the next day). Introducing those pressures makes an unimaginable (for many folks) difference between making some of these shots when you have plenty of time and no one but a buddy or two cheering you on.

I am only really pay attention to the shooting in the show, but is fun enough to watch and lets me drool over things I will never get to shoot lol

Gabby is really short. Probably under 5 feet tall. She had trouble in all the rifle competitions because the guns were too large and heavy.

I want Kelly or Gunny to win. I honestly think if Kelly hadnt have gone first in S1 he wouldve been the winner. Gunny's rep speaks for itself.

3rd choice or honorable mention goes to Chris Cerino. He's very local to me and man can he shoot!

Id be happy with either of the 3, but Id really like to see Kelly win it!

I thought I spied a couple competitors were wearing body armor during the shooting stages. Could be an insurance thing.

I work with Kelly. His desk is not so far from mine in cubicleville.

He is focused and driven and super friendly. Aloof is not a word I would use when describing the man. Maybe that's just a TV thing.

I liked the show when it started, but I drifted away when they just insisted on showing too much drama. Stupid, just idiot bunkroom garbage and chat. If it goes beyond 30 seconds of THAT stuff the TV goes OFF. When Kelly said he was on again, we at work got pretty excited. There are a decent group of us gun people, and growing. Anyway, this year has very little drama. Thank goodness.

Kelly is starting a Gun Shop business and has Wed. night get togethers for the show. We speculate at work and local gun bulletin boards that Kelly will go far. He is under a "$1 million NDA" and being the pro that he is says NOTHING. Seems aloof :neener: and we don't pry too hard.:D:)

And Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley would make for good TV today. Or someone of their skill level. I"m not seeing that.

I would argue that we've seen people recently that were of a higher skill level.
Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley were entertainers. When they shot glass balls thrown in the air, they used smoothbores with .44 rounds loaded with shot. Granted, it wasn't as big a pattern as a shotgun, but it wasn't a bullet either. I'm not saying they weren't good shots, but the odds were stacked for them when they did an exhibition shoot.

I've seen Tom Knapp shoot an asprin tablet thrown into the air with a .22 rifle.
The things we've seen Bob Munden do has left us all shaking our heads.

It's a shame these two guys are gone, but I would put either of them against Bill or Annie.

I am having a great time watching this season. While I've never really let the drama turn me off (Jake aaaalllmmmoooosssttt did), it has been great to see the new format.

Kelly and Chris appear to be the two strongest competitors, so far.

I'm all kinds of excited for the next episode.

I watched Top Shot for the first time on Sunday. I don't have cable so I just streamed it from History's website. It was pretty interesting, but not something I would watch a season in one marathon session. I tried to watch an episode from an earlier season but all the fake drama ruined it for me. I spend most of my time fast fowarding.
