OK after many requests for a match from the AR, M1, Saiga crowd. I give you the....

Autumn 2008 Steel Cased Ammo Challenge

The theme for this match is any rifle with iron sights any brand or make but the ammunition used MUST be steel cased factory loads. This great equalizer should pretty well level the playing field across the range of firearms

THE RULES

rifles

Any rifle any make or origin. Iron sights ONLY, no "globe" style front sights.

ammo

all ammunition must be factory loads that have a shell casing made from steel of an overseas origin .* IE no Hornady

Shooting positions

standing, sitting, kneeling or prone. NO shooting from the bench

Range & targets

the range for this match will be 100yds, as in the milsurp match your target will be a paper plate. please only post pics of "official" targets and your guns

For this match only one target may be submitted by each participant and they must be shot on a paper plate

shooting & scoring

you will shoot 5 shots onto the plates adhering to the rules outlined above. When you have a target you're satisfied with you need to make note on the target the following information

then take a pic of it and post it here

this match is in a smallest group wins format, the cutoff for submissions is Thanksgiving

Unlike the other matches I'm going to participate in this one.

Here's my submission, shot earlier today in the sitting position. I'm pretty certain that in order to do any better I would just have to luck out. So I'm gonna lock this one in.

No let's keep this match relatively simple and easy to follow. "For this match only one target may be submitted by each participant. " So just choose what you feel is your best shootin iron and roll with that.

This is new to me. In that case I'll ask that everyone please shoot using steel cased ammunition of overseas origin.

I doubt this'll be too much of a problem

I can probably do this the first weekend of October as that will be the soonest I can get anywhere with 100 yards available. I've never shot my AR at that distance yet so this could be interesting.

Was that referring to me saying I've never shot my AR at 100 yards yet? If so, it's because the range I typically go to is only 50 yards long and indoors. Plus I've only had my AR roughly 6 months. I need to get a membership to a gun club with some longer ranges. But in 2 weeks I'm going to my cabin to go duck hunting and I have about 130 yard homemade range on my property so I'll give it a shot then.

I'll have to get out to the range sometime soon with the M39 and some 7N1 ammo. Last time I was out I was getting 10 shot groups under 2 MOA.

My best guess would be Monarch (Barnaul), but I am not sure they have it.

I will be going shooting this weekend however I don't have a camera...do I have to post the picture of my rifle. I would be able to scan the target, but not a rifle...

I will try with my LMT and silver bear, should be able to get under 3".
