Longbranch Lee Enfield .303

When I looked through the spotting scope after this volley all I could say was dang!!I shot 2 5 round volleys this was the second one.

Bore excellent condition, this rifle goes down as one I definately don't regret getting. This is the second outing for it,last time when I bought I zeroed it.

Here is a link to the Longbranch factory with some cool historical photos if interested. And yes this contest actually made me interested in countries coat of arms that Im including in he photos.

tried my other Swedish M96 mauser today.Carl Gustav 1915 made.Bore is excellent.

Used Prvi Partizan and Hirtenburger ammo today,my other M96 seems to shoot a little better with PP while this one seems to do better with the surplus Hirtenburger.

The ammo is tarnished which I showed in the photo, but it shoots great anyway.

I don't think that is anything to be displeased about. That is basically what I get out of my K31's and quite a few other milsurps also that I'm seeing with the exception of a couple now that we have been doing this contest.

Which the biggest thing I have liked about this contest, seeing results from different types and ammo.A great thread for getting a good idea of just what is typical of these milsurps.

But condition and ammo play a huge part specially with these old guns.I posted my results with my M1903 which were terrible results but that probably is a issue with the gun 'cause I'm sure other 03's are capable of better.

I hope this thread stays even if it is unsticky after the end because I'd like to continue adding to it as I try out different guns and ammo.

Congratulations that was some fine shootin tex

thanks.Really interesting thread,a great way to see just what different milsurps are capable of with different ammo.Im surprised that a Lee Enfield beat other known to be accurate rifles like the Swiss K31,M39 Mosin and Swedish mausers.I think maybe it comes down to the individual rifle more than the design because I have another Lee Enfield that isn't as accurate as the Longbranch and it's newer even.

I'll go back and post the exact size groups I got with the other rifles before I learned how to properly measure a group.Would like to keep that posted as a reference.

One thing is for sure surplus Greek HXP ammo is some quality ammo despite it's age.Sellier&Bellot seems to have a edge over Prvi Partizan in accuracy but both are quality ammo_Of course handloaders are the real experts at being able to bring out the best potential accuracy in a milsurp.

Ah but now that I have been concentrating on milsurp shooting for the last couple months I think I'll bring out the .22 and maybe a evil black rifle to the range for a little while.:D
