You caught me...there I go typin' again. :neener:
Not really. Aguila has started making it again & marketing it under the Centurion name.
Didn't know that, but it isn't something I look for (not having one).
The original Remington ammo has almost achieved collector status and can be quite pricey.
That is the stuff I had seen at cartridge dealers (and I don't mean the people that sell ammo...I mean the one at a time...boxes cost a bunch guys). I recant, it would seem that you don't need to convert it, as about any other round will cost just as much or more. Neat caliber that you definitely don't see every day. :)
Where are the K31s?
In Switzerland? :D

DANG... shot a great group with my M1 yesterday, but didn't shoot it on a 'approved' target. :(

I'll post anyway, but this is NOT AN OFFICIAL SUBMISSION

Picture%20001.jpg

The 5 shot group came in at .438". Shot at 50yds, off the bench with bags, iron sights, using an NM M1 Garand and Hornady 168gr A-MAX .30-06 ammo.

Another (and final) effort with the XLR in .45-70. Once again I managed to screw up one of the five shots ... the first one this time. Anyway, this is a marginally better group than my previous best so this will have to do. It won't change my standing on the scoreboard but that's fine with me. Ultimately, I'm fairly pleased with the Marlins which are not bench rifles by any stretch of the imagination. Recoil is the biggest problem I'm having, in addition to the poor ergonomics when shot from the bench, plus my poor bench technique. I will add that I'm a long way from settling on a load for the XLR and Guide Gun. Recoil is such an issue in terms of obtaining meaningful data that the rifles don't seem to care much about the load ... grouping appears to be more about me than how much powder is in the case. I don't know if this makes any sense. After reinstalling the factory hammer springs, I didn't have a single FTF. :)

Thanks krochus for "hosting" this match. I've enjoyed it and look forward to the next one.

All in all I must say that your XLR's accuracy is most impressive indeed.

FYI they will qualify for next months match, but I expect new targets to be shot;)

Thanks krochus ... and I'm sure I can improve on the groups with the right load AND practice. So now I'm intrigued by next month's match and am very pleased to hear that the .45-70 is included .... hmmm .... straight-walled rifle or pistol cartridges perhaps? New targets you say ... roll on August 1st!!

:)

What's next month's match?

How about a match for single shot (non bolt-action) rifles? Maybe separate .22 and centerfire classes, scopes and iron sights?

I will second that (the single shot idea)...and with any luck actually come up with the time to shoot it. :banghead:

Sorry guys if I told ya I'd have to kill ya. You'll just have to wait a few more days.

I will say the next match will be even more inclusive. And I also assure ya that rimfires are gvntwns's dominion.

My schedule opened up over the last few days...and then the skies closed...hopefully next month will be a bit better. :)

I think that's a great idea. Personally, I can only get to the range on weekends for the most part, and between work, family, and other shooting obligations it can be hard to find the time.

This match is now closed

I'd like to thank everyone who participated in this match and would like to invite you to shoot in my latest creation the Summer 2009 THR hunting rifle match

Special congradulations to the winners

Jdgray, and Oldgold
