Why in the world would anyone have to ante up $10K? Doesn't the show make enough money off sponsors? That sounds a lot like an unconfirmed rumor.

That was some impressive shotgun skills there Adam. Looked like a lot of fun.

And just Wow. Joe really couldn't get that crossbow cocking device down. I was like, "Why doesn't he just throw down the stupid device and cock the dang thing by hand?" They may not have let him do that though.

Note - my comment about the $10k cost was just a rough number to describe how much money you lose as an individual taking 6 weeks off from work. Not to mention practice ammo, etc. Your mileage may vary... but my point is that you are going to lose some serious personal fortune to play this TV game show, so you ought to be playing to win.

The shotgun event was VERY fun. Lots of things happening moving gun to gun in pairs, hitting plates, flying birds.... a very enjoyable challenge. Some of the 'wait all day to take one shot' stuff can get boring for us, too.

No idea what choke was in that Benelli Vinci, but have no real experience to speak of with flying birds *(maybe 10 boxes of shells in my life?) and that Vinci gun made it seem almost easy. Sometimes a gun just feels right, and THIS one was that way for me. The M4 had its optic set way high and made it impossible to get a proper cheek weld on stock. But targets were close and red dot was clear so we were able to make it work.

I was a little surprised they had you guys using that red dot. What was the reasoning behind that? Was it a MEPRO 21? I rather think at that range, I'd have wanted to just stick with the irons.

I'm pretty sure the show uses the guns as they are supplied by the sponsor...it was likely the combination that the manufacturer wants to sell as a package

I'm thinking more that sponsors want their products used in a visible manner.

Benelli, as a manufacturer, doesn't care what optic. If any, you put on it.

I'm sure shooting two cannon side by side would be earth shaking.
Combined with the smell of sulfur thick in the air, the competition, battery sized targets ... as close as you can come to the real use of the Hotchkiss without having another brace shooting back.

Joe seemed to have an off day this week but that costs anyone when it happens.
Hope he enjoyed being called back for the all star season, seemed like a natural with any weapon.

Adam,, Respect,, you must be very satisfied with shooting the Benelli sequence.
Transitioning from scope to open and back seemed easy for you and a few others but hitting those doubles was outstanding!

I enjoyed the shotgun challenge... if the slug shooter did not hit with the first shot, the clay shooter must have had a much harder job.
Making the "easy" shot ,even with the high optics ,first time was key. Congrats on doing well with both.

I think Gunny's short neck cost him with the scoped slug gun, he sure seemed to be having a hard time locating the sight picture. Could it have been his glasses?

Next week looks like a hoot,,, I wonder if the contestants had any idea this was coming? :D

The clays were triggered by a slug hitting the steel plate. And we were preloading on the table before shooting (not shooting and reloading after). So both guys would run up and load both guns at same time, and when Vinci clay guy was up and ready, we would yell out for slug guy to hit plate. If slug missed, it wasn't the end of the world. You were still up and ready. The problem would be if you ran the slug gun dry. That would suck...

History channel posts something called "Anatomy of the shot" where the winning team each weeks goes into more detail about what worked for them.

On All Stars we started to get the idea that stages were all coming from fan favorites in the past. So we kind of figured this giant spinning boom contraption was coming up. Looks super fun! But how do you prepare for something like that??! :)

The house was REALLY nice. Huge pool, great kitchen, several fireplaces, and a cool living room with a wall of glass doors that could swing away to open and connect inside/outside seating areas. Love that place! It had at least 4 full baths.

I wasn't disappointed to see Joe go home...I didn't even realize that I still held a grudge against him from his voting for Elimination during his season.

I've noticed throughout the season that while Gunny is superb in unhurried accuracy, that he doesn't do as well when there are time pressures.

That is why, even though he has been to the proving ground a number of times, he has usually avoided going to Elimination. The slow "best" shot, plays to his strength

Haven't watched the season with JJ Racaza in some time but he is exactly the type I like to see compete.

I'll check to see if he is on video anywhere else. Like to see him shoot his way, off show.
Wow, no shortage of video there.. as recent as two month ago in a flash.

When Colby said the Walther could safely carry a round in the chamber, making it popular with law enforcement, especially in Europe, my wife shook her head like what the heck is he talking about. And she knows marginally more about guns than she does underwater welding.

I guess he meant that unlike most other striker fired guns, it can be decocked. My guess is it was an AS or a DAO
