Did anyone else notice they flashed a picture of the final 4 before the elimination challenge started? I turned to my wife and said "Guess Williams going home".

A bit of a condescending attitude don't you think.

I don't think so. It's a male pride thing.

But I am glad she wasn't the first to go. I'm also glad that folks shot their way into, of out of, elimination. In past seasons the women were chosen to go, based on nothing except the fact they were female.

As I recall most of the previous women struggled with their shots. And they went head to head in elimination challenges and promptly lost. Some men were constantly chosen to go to elimination as well and a couple kept on winning them.

That so called "pride" is what keeps Women out of the sport. Its this kind of attitude that will destroy this sport. It has to end.

Male pride is not ruining the sport. If anything, its being ruined by lowering expectations and standards to place inclusiveness above performance. By creating special trophies for "High Lady" and allowing that lesser performance to be an equal celebration.

I say this not to be outrageous or rude, but to be honest in a time when that seems to have gone out of fashion. And to honor what Gabby really accomplished when she competed head to head with the guys and won through skill and determination, never asking for special waivers or leveraging political correctness.

Hey Adam - another question for you. How did you guys handle any malfunctions during any of the challenges? I thought about this during the 1919 shoot last night... I know you weren't there for that one, but on other challenges where you were running semi-autos... any of 'em ever jam up?

More women are shooting now than ever before and are beating a lot of guys in the process, so I don't see what basis you have for your comment.

Tom - They test the guns and challenges with the guys in the black shirts before the competitors try it for real.. and that also gives them some of the slow motion footage they use during the show. Sure, the guns could still malfunction and jam. Its something we just have to deal with at times. And its unfortunate if it hurts your time and someone else isn't affected the same way. But the producers do everything they can to mitigate weapon problems and enforce competitive fairness.

There might even have been times where a particular gun was such a failure that it was scrapped and we would theoretically have to start the day over with a complete replacement weapon system, with new practice and new intro's by Colby. Anything can happen. But I would never confirm or deny that it ever has. Some of that legal paperwork scares the crap out of me !!

If an event is critical, like a final elimination challenge and one gun jams with a mechanical failure, the producers have the ability to call cease fire and fix the gun. Then review tape frame by frame with its digital time stamp to restart at the exact moment. All under the watchful eye of the fairness lawyer lady with the big floppy blue hat. :)

This isn't the US nationals or the Bianchi Cup. Its reality TV featuring cool historical weapons and some amazing displays of talent. That said, the producers do everything they possibly can to make things as fair as possible for great competition all the way through. They really do try, and that is why the show it so enjoyable to watch! And we do get additional time off camera to ask a million questions before each challenge actually starts. Like you know we shooters all love to do.... Ha!

I liked William's explanation for the outrageous grip (counter the expert). Missing the shot and having Gunny make it had to be even more acutely painful than William let on.

Yeah. Let's all go shave our beards and buy skinny jeans while we're at it.

And I don't buy for a second that it keeps women out of the sport. I'm sure there are examples, but I think it's the exception not the rule. But then again, I'm in the south. Most women here do shoot so I don't see a lot of women turned off by it.
Just like men don't want to be beaten by a woman, don't you think women feel a sense of pride when they beat a man? And there's nothing wrong with either of those things. It's the way we are.
My wife shoots and doesn't feel the least bit intimidated by my "male pride". And trust me, I have plenty of it.

I think it made a lot of sense too.

Try to put pressure on the other competitors with something completely foreign to them that you think you can do...but you have to be able to do it to take advantage. I think William will be kicking himself when he sees the show and realizes that he didn't make a single one of the shots that he called.

Chris and his upside down Browning P-35, while standing on one leg was a good move, toward the same end, to offset Gunny and William's higher level of performance in Bull's eye shooting

If I was tied and the only choice left was a longbow and it's my call, I'm going for a shot glass at 100 yds!

When Brian asked for the BHP again... you could sense he had it BUT.. the way the replay showed the bullet strike at FIRST I thought he missed!

I wonder how many BHP's will be sold this month?

I'll tell you who's humble is Chris...both on the show and in person...especially when you consider how strong he has been in the majority of the challenges

It was pretty classy when he gave kudos to William on the back pouch at the house before the Challenge

I guess I don't get that from Gunny at all. He actually comes across as rather arrogant to me.

I agree and that's why I like him. Hell, it takes a certain amount of arrogance to enter the competition in the first place. To know that some of the best shooters in the world are there and you think you can beat them. A little arrogance is a good thing. But there's a fine line between a little and way too much.

Confidence and Arrogance are very similar. I would say it's mostly your own perception that chooses one or the other.

Williams's audition tape for his season may make sense of the sideways shot, just as Dustin's audition tape foreshadowed the golf ball shot during his season. When I saw William call that shot, I laughed. I expected him to make it.

Gary and Pete were guys I expected to be middle of the pack guys, but have wanted to see do well. When Gary had hiccups to start the season, it looked like he would be on his way out early. I'm glad Pete went as far as he did, and I'm glad Gary is still going.

My predicted top 3 were Gunny, Chris, and Kelly. Right now, Chris and Phil look the most well rounded.

I agree 100%. He seems like the strongest overall competitor to me. I'm curious to see how the final turns out.

All I have to say about this season's competitors is that I kinda guessed who would be out first.

Much as Greg Littlejohn is a nice guy, he was consistantly having issues in his season.
