Top shot show on History

Judge Judy is actually more interesting. I was really unimpressed how many of those guys were perpetual whiners, Kelly Buchand in particular. I want to watch a shooting show, not a soap opera.

Did we watch the same show? Now, I didn't watch every episode, but I saw more whining about Kelly (the young rifle shooter, right?) than from him. He won more head to head competitions than anyone else. I was sorry to see him knocked out.

I think the thing that sunk him was that he had to go first. He knew that reloading would take more time that working the action, so he loaded more rounds to begin with.

The others saw him shoot the course clean and knew that loading more rounds to begin with would be conceding defeat...at that point, it was shoot it clean or be out of the running. There was no longer a need for the cushion against a miss...as demonstrated by Adam.

Kelly was the classic Survivor underdog character, Denny was the feel good baggage trap that the team fell into

I liked the show, and definately will be watching.

I do sometimes wonder if the gun selection process was soemthing along the lines of:
"Hey, doesn't Jack over in acounting have a gun?"
"Yea, and so do the two cameramen."
"Great, what do they have?"
"Two M9s and a some african pistol."
"PERFECT!"

I would really like to see a bit more variety in the guns, and a bit more history/info.

Chris "the Kayak-Man" Johnson

A good compromise would be a banner at the bottom of the screen saying more information on the firearms and shots taken can be found at the website.... Make it a little more intereactive.

Maybe an online "pick a shot" episode or something. I will be watching tonight!! Good time to decap, size and prime some .223 too :)

I'll be watching. Is it perfect? No...but it's pretty entertaining and I think the RKBA exposure is a good thing.

I'd like to see better firearms (not the knockoff TZ stuff) and some history about the firearms...maybe some footage of what the competitors do at home to get a better idea of their daily lives.

i'll be watching it for sure, even though i dont like the "voting off' procedure as i think some good shooters get eliminated too early ,, they should start another sub-competition amongst the "losers" ,, another twist to the plot

Kind of light hearted fun..but please, let's get the facts right.....The test for snipers for Civil War did not involve a CARTRIDGE loaded Sharps. Maybe paper but not brass.
Didn't look like they were using full house 44 maggies either in the elimination but, before you all jump on me...

It is just entertainment. Light entertainment. Promotes the sport. Enjoy.

I think you'll need to give it a bit more time to get to know the shooters...I already have two that I hate, maybe three.

But my man Jay made the first bullseye of the show and I'm happy. They have made the challenges much tougher this Season

I knew the runner-up in Season 1 and have given him a load of ribbing for freezing up...but I also thank him for being part of a show that has brought interest to the sport and has swayed many folks who were on the fence to the idea that shooting is fun.

Haha I'm sure he appreciates that. You also rib him about the "male dancing" in his past?

I am glad that they brought out the 1911 instead of the 92. All in all I think it will be a better show than last time because I think the creators got to see what professional shooters are and aren't capable of. I like the fact that they picked teams too instead of letting the producers do it. I am a little puzzled though after looking at the cast to see that 4 of the 16 are from California. I wouldn't expect that out of show centered around guns.

Because you don't think CA has more than it's share of the best shooters? :D And one of them is only a golf pro

Remember that CA was where Practical/Action shooting got started and I believe that we trail only TX in firearms purchase per capita...CA is a huge market for firearms manufacturers

Any eagle eyes that can spot what kind of 1911 they were using for the elimination vote? I kept wanting to think it was a kimber but coudln't spot the swirly writing.

I did spot the "----Series 80----" on the side of the one they used in the competition.

Better than Survivor, where they were often running 90% from California, and almost all actors and wanna-be actors.

When you shoot out of California (even if the location is in a nearby state) it's just natural all the subjects...I mean contestants will be from there as well.

I felt the same way. Both my wife and I liked him. Yes, he often came off as a bit of a jackass (especially the early comment), but he wasn't a bad guy. And I'd be a bit testy too after my team trying to get rid of me almost every time.

I would really like to see the statistic that shows that CA is #2 in firearm purchases. If that were the case the laws there would be a lot better than they are.

That list does show that CA is far from the top of firearms purchased per capita, but you can't go by a list that ranks them on a per capita basis to get the total purchases. You can use that table to get the actual number of background checks per state. You divide the state population by 100,000 and multiply by the number of checks per 100K.

I didn't check them all, but for the states in question:

1) Texas with over 2,460,000 checks
2) California with over 2,000,000 checks

So if the number of purchases tracks with the number of background checks, CA is number 2 in purchases.

Note that the figure for Kentucky is impossible (134,028 per 100,000). That was probably a typo and is actually 34,028 per 100,000 for a total of over 1,400,000 checks

Illinois is kind of a surprise with over 1,790,000 checks.

I'll have to stand corrected to #2 in total purchases, as opposed to per capita

If that were the case the laws there would be a lot better than they are.
What it really means is that folks buy a lot of guns in CA in spite of the laws...it just means we're willing to jump through more hoops to own our guns.

And if there was a Series 80 marking, that clinched it, a registered trademark of and only of Colt.

Looking at the rear sight installation, I'd say it was a stainless Gold Cup

I like the show in general; any show of this nature is fun. I too would like to see more history of the guns used. Oh, and Colby shows about as much personality as a cardboard box.

I liked it a lot last season, and am looking forward to seeing more of this season. But on the scenes from the next episode, uh, paintball? Really? I thought this was about guns, not toys.

So you would prefer they shot at each other with live ammo? Next week they are going to have to do the challenges while under fire from the paintball markers.

I actually liked the first show last night. I believe so far they have learned from the first year and corrected a few of faults that have been expressed even from this site.

I will watch next week also.
